Q: What are the entrance requirements?

Q: How long is the course?

A: The undergraduate course lasts 4 years.

Q: Do I need to do placements?

A: Yes, you are required to complete 200 days on practice learning placement over 4 years but the majority of your placement experience will be in year 3 and 4.

Q: Can I keep my job?

A: Yes, however, this is a full-time course and should take priority. Attendance is monitored and there are sanctions for non attendance, so fitting paid work around the demands of university can be a challenge.

Q: How will I be assessed?

A: We use a variety of assessment methods including essays, poster presentations and supervised direct practice placements. You will receive support from the academic staff and qualified social workers to develop the skills necessary to undertake these assessments.

Q: How big will my class be?

A: It may very from year to year, but generally the classes are between 50 and 60 students.

Q: What if I fail an assignment?

A: Don't worry, you will be provided with constructive feedback and support as required. You will have one further attempt to resubmit the assignment.

Q: Can I still study social work if I have a criminal conviction?

A: Yes, however, you require to be registered with SSSC and the University needs to be reassured of your fitness for practice.

The LDC has a dedicated team with an excellent reputation for working with students to develop their academic and ICT skills.
